논문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 4·19를 재현하는 강신재의 장편소설 『오늘과 내일』 속 서발턴의 서사를 분석하고 그 의미를 평가하고자 한다. 대학생 시위대의 형제애를 강조하는 1960년대 단편소설들과 달리 『오늘과 내일』에서 4·19는 대학생 시위대뿐 아니라 다양한 구경꾼, 서발턴의 목소리를 전시하는 가운데 재현된다. 소설에서 대학생은 비극적인 영웅이기보다 냉정한 방관자나 오만한 지도자로 형상화된다. 이러한 대학생 시위대와 구분되는 자리에, 혁명적 폭력으로 부정적인 권력에 맞대응한 고등학생-도시빈민 시위대를 긍정적으로 형상화한다. 4·19의 주체로서 도시빈민 서발턴은 폭력과 소요의 구경꾼이자 참여자로서 부단히 유동하는 존재이다. 4·19의 예외상태 가운데 생명력을 발휘하며 유동하는 존재로서 『오늘과 내일』은 가난하고 무식하지만 활발하고 낙천적인 여성과 부랑아를 부각해 보인다. 강신재의 『오늘과 내일』은 4·19를 대학생 시위대 중심의 순수한 희생과 숭고의 서사가 아니라 구경꾼 서발턴 시위대 중심의 파괴와 난동, 생동감과 유동성의 서사로 다룬다는 점에서 일정한 의미를 갖는다고 하겠다. This study aims to analyze the narrative of subaltern's in 『Today and Tomorrow』 by Sin-jae Kang and rate the meanings. In contrast to short stories in the 1960s, which emphasizes the brotherhood of college students, 『Today and Tomorrow』 representes 4·19 with diverse crowds, subaltern voices as well as college students. In this novel, college students are portrayed as a calm on-looker or an arrogant leader than a tragic hero. In a place separate from those collage students demonstrater, this novel positively shapes the high school students - the poor demonstrater who responded to the negative power in violence. As the subject of 4·19, the poor subaltern are constantly flowing beings as on-lookers and participants to the violence and riot. This novel emphasizes a juvenile vagrant and a woman who is poor and ignorant but active and optimistic as an active flowing being in a state of exception 4·19. 『Today and tomorrow』 by Sin-jae Kang has valuable meanings because it representes 4·19 not as a sublime narrative of the pure sacrifice of collage students, but an active and flowing narrative of destruction and riot of subaltern.
